New Moderator for the Presbytery of Argyll
At its meeting on Tuesday 1st March, the Presbytery of Argyll chose Marilyn Shedden as its Moderator for 2016-17. She will take office at our next Presbytery meeting on Tuesday 7th June.
Marilyn began studying Veterinary Medicine at Glasgow University, but chose a different career. She helped establish a UK subsidiary of a German pharmaceutical company, and was National Oncology Manager for many years. Marilyn has been an elder in the Kirk both in Glasgow and in Argyll, and was both a Sunday School Adviser and lay worship leader in Glasgow Presbytery for several years. Now she is a member and elder of Killean & Kilchenzie Parish Church near Muasdale, in Kintyre. Marilyn has been Business Committee Convenor of Argyll Presbytery for three years, and provides pulpit supply regularly. She writes a weekly ‘Thought for the Week’ for two local papers.
Marilyn has lived in Glasgow all her life till coming to Kintyre 11 years ago where now, with Maggie and two Rough Collies, she enjoys the beauty, the peace and the spirituality of Argyll. Marilyn says: ‘I am extremely honoured to be invited to be Moderator of Argyll Presbytery, and will do my utmost to serve the Presbytery and her people to the best of my ability.’
